There’s actually nothing wrong with the comment she threw. She wasn’t entirely wrong with it either, but everyone blew up over it with the way it was spoken.
Pregnancy does get more complicated after the age of 30. The fluids and whatnot gets weaker, so saying that it “rots” wasn’t entirely off. But supposedly Japan was/is having problems with older females having babies and was easily offended with the comment.
I’ve actually heard plenty of people say it that way since the layman’s way is the only way for people to understand sometimes. But!! Her album still sold over .. what? 400,000 copies it’s first week charting? Her comment shouldn’t really matter.
At the end of January, Kuu was on “All Night Nippon” and started talking about the difficulty of pregnancy for woman that reaches the age of 35. She said that the amniotic fluid begins to sour. One of the girls that manages her was 35 and getting married, so Kuu said she should hurry up and have children before the fluid in her womb turns bad. Followed by how it’s true because she heard it on the news.
Doesn’t sound so bad, right? Wrooong. A ton of Japanese women were furious. Kuu did appear on TV saying she regretted her statement on “All Night Nippon”, but never apologized. Later on, she released an official apology on her website, saying she betrayed her fans and was sorry from the bottom of her heart. And to make matters worse? A few days later, Avex also released an apology, saying that to make up for her offense, they would cancel all promotion of Kingdom. Because of this whole controversy, Kose removed Kuu from their Visee site and she lost two endorsement deals. Ouch? Yeah.
Ok, it is a BIOLOGICAL FACT that women over 35 MAY experience difficulty getting pregnant. So these women who are all up on her for stating a FACT, they should probably develop tougher skin and accept this reality.
But, for someone in Kuu’s position, why did she have to bring up such a touchy subject and present her thoughts in such a manner? The fluid sours, the womb turns bad… she didn’t have to say it like THAT. And is that even biologically accurate? I thought there were other reasons for why a woman may not get pregnant post 35.
Blahhh, well anyway, Aizmov said Kuu’s sales declined rapidly. I’m wondering by how much? (o.O)
